Did You Know?
- Did you know you can ask your vet to give you your horses prescription to have fullfilled elsewhere!
- You could save hundreds of pounds every year on medication if your horse is on long term medication. For obvious reasons vets are not mad keen for you to do this and they may make an administration charge to provide the prescription but you can still save money. What is alarming is that some vets are trying to make it very difficult for customers to do this. Your vet must give you a prescription if you request it to take else where. They may decide to charge you an administration charge. The Office of Fair Trading states this must be reasonable. Some vets, appallingly, are actually trying to charge customers for every month the prescription covers which is an absolute disgrace! If your vet does this vote with your feet and get a more ethical vet. The Office of Fair Trading has stipulated that vets may NOT agree between themselves what constitutes a suitable fee, this is strictly prohibited by compettion law. If you think your vet is doing this you can make a formal complaint to the Office of Fair Trading. Some of the online websites claim to offer upto 80% discount on some prescription products. If you are having problems with your vet in relation to prescription pricing send us your story.
